The two admission channels into the two-year Master of Design programme in 2024 are as follows:

Channel 2 (Open for all, through SPA Bhopal Direct Admission procedure, 10 seats)

Open House is an online tête-à-tête with the faculty & students of the Department of Design, SPAB, and the 2024 MDes aspirants to clarify doubts about the department, curriculum, admission process, etc so that they can give their best shot during the process of Admissions.

● The aspirants selected through Channel 1 (CEED 2024/ GATE 2024 Qualified) are offered the institute postgraduate scholarship as approved in the institute’s financial budget, provided they are not drawing any other government/ private scholarship/ sponsorship/ stipend (See the table alongside). Presently, the Scholarship payable per month is Rs.12400/-.
● The recipients of the Institute Scholarship must give a declaration that they are not getting any aid for pursuing the course from any other organization, government or private.

Candidates must possess an Undergraduate degree from one of the following categories with a minimum of 60%
marks in aggregate (or 6.5 CGPA) for General/ OBC and 55% marks in aggregate (or 6.0 CGPA) in case of
SC/ ST/ PWD candidates in the qualifying examination.
Two major thrust areas are taught in Master of Design Course: 1. Product Design, 2. Visual Communication Design.
a. Candidates interested to opt Product Design must have academic background in
Bachelor of Design/ Graduate Diploma (min. 4 years) in a stream of Industrial Design/ Product Design from a recognised institute
Bachelor of Architecture from CoA recognised institute
Bachelors of Engineering/ Technology from an AICTE recognised institute
b. Candidates interest to opt Visual Communication Design must have academic background in
Bachelor of Design/ Graduate Diploma (min. 4 years) in a stream of Design from a recognised institute/university
Bachelor of Architecture from CoA recognised institute
Bachelors of Engineering/ Technology from an AICTE recognised institute
Bachelor of Planning from ITPI recognized institute
Bachelor of Fine Arts from UGC recognized institute (also must have atleast one year of Industrial Experience)
Master of Fine Arts from UGC recognized institute
In case of the tied CEED 2024/ GATE 2024 Score, the following tie-breaker order will be considered:
a. The Marks in Percentage of Qualifying Degree
b. 10+2 Percentage
c. 10th Percentage
The candidates applying for the specific category need to produce the relevant document as per the Government approved format issued by a competent authority.
One seat is reserved for PwD across all the categories.

I am a CEED 2024/GATE 2024 qualified aspirant, can I apply in both channels?
Yes. You can apply in both channels.
Channel 1 entrance is for the 15 seats (with institute scholarship).
Channel 2 entrance is for the remaining 10 seats (without institute scholarship).
If you want to apply in both channels, you have to fill in just one form and select both the options, "based on CEED 2024/GATE 2024 Score" and "not Based on CEED 2024/GATE 2024 Score". The application fee will be INR 2000 for the reserved category and INR 4000 for others.
2. I am a not a CEED 2024/GATE 2024 qualified aspirant, can I apply in both channels?
No. You can only apply in the Channel 2.
However, you can apply in the other postgraduate streams offered by SPA Bhopal (please check the eligibility for each programme).
3. What is the Application Fee for Channel 1 and 2?

4. What is the Fee Structure for the MDes programme at SPA Bhopal?

5. What are the different specialisations at MDes programme?
SPA Bhopal offers a Master of Design degree programme. The minor specializations in Product Design and Visual Communication are only in the First Year of studies. In the second year systemic concepts and service design are also introduced. Please refer to the Curriculum Structure here.
6. What is the syllabus for SPA_DAT (Design Aptitude Test), SPA_MCQ & Departmental_MCQ?
SPA_DAT or the Design Aptitude Test will comprise of time-bound Design task to be done within a defined time.
SPA_MCQ will have objective multiple-choice questions on General Knowledge and Current Affairs.
Departmental_MCQ will have objective multiple-choice questions from the broader field of Design including Product Design and Visual Communication.
7. When will I get to know the exact time of my interview?
The aspirants from Channel-1 will have their interviews on 16th and 17th May 2024(9AM onwards, on campus), as per requirement

8. What will be asked in my interview?
You will have to present your portfolio of works in a prescribed format.
The format will be shared once you have been shortlisted after the preliminary rounds.
9. What are the documents needed for the application in the Channel 1 & 2?
CEED 2024 Score Card/ GATE 2024 Score Card (only for Channel 1)
Passport Size photo (jpeg, less than 200 kb)
Category Certificate (If applicable, pdf) valid at least up to the date of commencement of classes i.e. July-August 2022.

Consolidated Marksheet of Qualifying Degree (pdf). * In case your final semester mark sheet is awaited, scanned & self attested mark sheet of results till prefinal year/semester needs to be submitted.
