The two admission channels into the two-year Master of Design programme in 2022 are as follows:

  1. Channel 1
    (for the CEED qualified aspirants, 15 seats)

Seat Allotment (Category-wise)

● The aspirants selected through the Channel 1 (CEED Qualified) are offered the institute postgraduate scholarship as approved in the institute’s financial budget, provided they are not drawing any other government/private scholarship/sponsorship/stipend (See the table alongside). Presently, the Scholarship payable per month is Rs.12400/-.

● The recipients of Institute Scholarship must give a declaration that they are not getting any aid for pursuing the course from any other organization, government or private.

Eligibility

  1. Candidates must possess an undergraduate degree from one of the following categories with a minimum of 60% marks in aggregate (or 6.5 CGPA) for General/ OBC (NCL)/EWS and 55% marks in aggregate (or 6.0 CGPA) in case of SC/ST/PWD:

● Bachelor of Design/GDPD

● Bachelor of Architecture

● Bachelor of Planning

● Bachelor of Technology/Engineering

● Bachelor of Fine Arts (with minimum 1-year experience)

● Master of Fine Arts

  1. In case of the tied CEED Score, the following tie-breaker order will be considered:
    a. The Marks in Percentage of Qualifying Degree
    b. 10+2 Percentage
    c. 10th Percentage

  1. The candidates with BFA/MFA Degree and Bachelor of Planning can only opt for Visual Communication as the Minor Specialization.

  2. The candidates applying for the specific category need to produce the relevant document as per government approved format issued by a competent authority.

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. I am a CEED 2022 qualified aspirant, can I apply in both channels?

Yes. You can apply in both channels.
Channel 1 entrance is for the 15 seats (with institute scholarship).
Channel 2 entrance is for the remaining 10 seats (without institute scholarship).

If you want to apply in both channels, you have to fill in just one form and select both the options, "based on CEED Score" and "not Based on CEED score". The application fee will be INR 2000 for the reserved category and INR 4000 for others.

2. I am a not a CEED qualified aspirant, can I apply in both channels?

No. You can only apply in the Channel 2.
However, you can apply in the other postgraduate streams offered by SPA Bhopal (please check the eligibility for each programme).

3. What is the Application Fee for Channel 1 and 2?

Application Fee for
Channel 1 (for the CEED qualified aspirants, 15 seats) is ₹ 2,000 (UR/ OBC-NCL/ EWS) & ₹ 1,000 (SC/ ST/ PwD)
for Channel 2 (through SPA Bhopal Direct Admission procedure, 10 seats) is ₹ 2,000 (UR/ OBC-NCL/ EWS) & ₹ 1,000 (SC/ ST/ PwD).

You need to pay the Application Fee in each channel if you are applying in both.

4. What is the Fee Structure for the MDes programme at SPA Bhopal?

5. What are the different specialisations at MDes programme?

SPA Bhopal offers Master of Design degree programme. The minor specialisations in Product Design and Visual Communication are only in the First Year of studies. Please refer to the Curriculum Structure here.

6. What is the syllabus for SPA_DAT (Design Aptitude Test), SPA_MCQ & Departmental_MCQ?

  • SPA_DAT or the Design Aptitude Test will comprise of time-bound Design task to be done and uploaded within 5 hrs on the defined portal.

  • SPA_MCQ will have objective multiple-choice questions on General Knowledge and Current Affairs.

  • Departmental_MCQ will have objective multiple-choice questions from the broader field of Design including Product Design and Visual Communication.

7. When will I get to know the exact time of my online interview?

  • The aspirants from Channel-1 will have their interviews on Thursday & Friday, 5th & 6th May 2022

  • The aspirants from Channel-2 will have their interviews on Saturday & Monday, 7th & 9th May 2022

  • The exact time slot will be shared for Channel 1 and for Channel 2 individually via mail to the shortlisted aspirants.

8. What will be asked in my online interview?

  • You will have to present your portfolio of works in a prescribed format.

  • The format will be shared once you have been shortlisted after the preliminary rounds.

9. What are the documents needed for the application in the Channel 1 & 2?

  • CEED Score Card (only for Channel 1)

  • Passport Size photo (jpeg, less than 200 kb)

  • Category Certificate (If applicable, pdf) valid at least up to the date of commencement of classes i.e. July-August 2022.

  • PwD Certificate (If applicable, pdf)

  • Consolidated Marksheet of Qualifying Degree (pdf). * In case your final semester mark sheet is awaited, scanned & self attested mark sheet of results till prefinal year/semester needs to be submitted.
